Butterfly Valves
At present, as an equipment used for the on-off and flow control of pipeline, the centerline or called concentric type butterfly valve has been widely used in many fields such as petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, hydropower. In the well-known butterfly valve technology, its sealing mostly adopts the sealing structure with the materials in rubber, polytetrafluoroethylene etc. Due to the structural limitation, it cannot withstand high temperature and high pressure, and not resistant to corrosion and wear.
The structure feature of the centerline butterfly valve is that the shaft center of stem, the center of the disc and the center of the body are in the same position. The structure is simple and the manufacture is convenient.
Double or Triple eccentric butterfly valves are widely used in metallurgy, electric power, petrochemical industry, water supply and drainage and municipal construction, etc. for regulating flow and conveying fluid. The material can be cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel.
The triple eccentric butterfly valves can withstand pressure up to 2500lbs, and temperature between -196 and 700 . And it can achieve zero leakage and the regulation ratio is as high as 100:1. That's to say, in all kinds of harsh and critical process control pipelines, whether it is used as a on-off valve or a control valve, as long as it is properly selected, the butterfly valve can be used with safety. And what's more, it's with low cost.
Butterfly Valves are designed to regulate flow, but with limited control capability. Butterfly valves are easily operated by rotating a handle 90 degrees. It consists of a metal disc in the body of the valve which is positioned perpendicular to the flow in the closed position. Regulation of liquid flow can be allowed through intermediate rotations. Butterfly valves are configured to operate electronically, manually or pneumatically.
They can be used for a broad range of applications within water supply, wastewater treatment, fire protection and gas supply, in the chemical and oil industries, in fuel handling systems, power generation etc. These valves can be operated by handles, gears or actuators according to specific needs.
Advantages
• Butterfly valves are very accurate, which makes them advantageous in industrial applications.
• They are quite reliable and require very little maintenance.
• They have the capability to throttle flow.
• They can be installed or removed without pipe system dislocation
